Dear Reader,

We mentioned it briefly in our first letter, but we have finally seen it come to pass. It is with great pleasure that we get to announce that we have officially rebranded ourselves as the Horseshoe Magazine. This has been a long time coming and we have spoken at length of this idea with the founder, Amanda Castro, during the spring. We hope that this change can mark us a different entity under the Charger Bulletin umbrella and we can broaden our scope and audience.

Our final edition under the name Charger Bulletin Magazine was September 8, and the editorial staff has been working tirelessly to finalize our rebrand. We halted publication to ensure that we could embark on a new semester with a new identity. We found that it was crucial for this rebrand to occur so that we could solidify our distinct voice and presence on campus. Now that it is here, we can focus on the true purpose of the publication, amplifying student voices and perspectives. We will continue this mission of inclusive longform journalism, and further Castro’s mission from when she initially founded the publication. Publications will continue to occur every two weeks on Thursday.

With all of that being said, we are thrilled to usher in a new era of longform journalism at the University of New Haven. Here at the Horseshoe Magazine, there are no barriers to writing. Even if you have never written for a news publication or a magazine before, we highly encourage you to write, and as the editorial board, we are here to help you every step of the way.

At the tail end of our inaugural year, we embrace new change, and we hope that you do too; whether you plan on writing for us, or you’re just here to enjoy the content, we hope you stay.

Welcome to the Horseshoe Magazine.
